We stayed overnight at the Damson Dene on route from the Cotswold to Glasgow. When we arrived were met by a friendly receptionist who explained all of the facilities offered at the hotel. Throughout our stay all of the staff that we met were friendly and polite. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was very good. The breakfast was also very good with a wide selection of both hot and cold food, if you were lucky to have a table at an open window then you were joined by the ducks who were happy to share a slice of toast with you.
We were placed in an attic bedroom with no help offered with our luggage.it was very small but just adequate for our 2 night stay. How are rooms allocated?we booked several months in advance and our standard of room did not feature on the website!
the hotel is an exelent place to stay the facilities are exelent it is in a good place for walkers or the lakes in either direction, it is a nice friendly family run hotel that caters for your every need. The pool and gym are a bonus while i was there we had a full body massage whitch we both enjoyed very much.
unfortunately what i didnt like was pets inside the hotel, inside the bar area were we spent most off our time my partner could scrape bunches of doghairs from the carpet with his shoe, i also did not like the food served in the restaurant i thought the menu was very limited the bar snacks were far more appertising. After walking most off the day you look forward to coming back to hearty meal not a wedge of sweet potato and a piece of chicken whitch did not go down to well. Concidering what could be on offer a bit dissappionting.
Red wine and bar were nice.
The whole hotel needs a make-over, pool area needs painting.its just tatty
Very friendly and helpfull staff. Cosy interior. Gala dinner and entertainment very good. Food excellent.
To far from anything eles felt very remote
I stayed with my mother as we were visiting family and friends. We saw the hotel on the channel 4 programme and we liked the fact that we could bring our dog with us for the visit. I am amazed the lack of accommodation in the lake district for pets.I Really liked the hotel the rooms were very nice and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and going forward we will book up again when we come up tp the lakes again.
The staff & pool facilities
Dirty stain on bedroom carpet room 5,Bath pannel hanging off, when I filled the bath a big clump of hair appeared from the jaccuzzi nozzle jet
can not fault the hotel or staff. thank you all at the damson dene hotel
The pool and sauna although slight problem with temperature - the water was colder than advertised. Fitness centre good and included in price.
View from the room was poor - visitors/staff sometimes smoked outside and smell of smoke was evident in the bathroom despite the window being shut.
the country side was very nice , every one was nice , food was ok , it was very quit at night
i booked a double room but was given a twin with the beds puched together ,i did nit sleep very well
The area is lovely, we did not enjoy this hotel at all.
There was a TV programme being filmed during our stay. There were cameras everywhere even in the bedroom areas (and some of the bedrooms). We felt this was a total invasion of privacy and told the hotel and the programme staff this. Neither appeared to 'get the point' that we were there for a relaxing holiday away from 'it all'. Some people might like having their '15 mnutes of fame' but having covert cameras and microphones everywhere you went (even the gardens) did not make for a relaxing holiday .
It was surrounded with farms, so more scenic compared to others. Breakfast was good. Hotel staff was friendly
Not comfortable at all. Room, Toilets and Beds were really small. Hotel location is suitable only for guests with cars else you will need to hire a taxi everytime you want to do an activity
The tranquility of the setting
The bedroom was very small. It was difficult to open the door and walk into the room. The towel rail was none functioning so it was difficult to dry towels and bathing costumes, therefore we could not sure the leisure pool more than once in our three day stay if we had wanted to but the pool area was grubby and dark and was not inviting. The bar did not have a varied enough menu. The restaurant did not have a vegetarian option on the menu in the evenings. We asked for a morning paper and because they had never heard of the "I" we did not receive it even though it was readily available in local newsagents.
